In 1914, Karen Blixen boarded a steamship in Denmark bound for Kenya, to manage a coffee plantation. From the moment she saw the Ngong Hills, she knew she fell in love with the country.
Blixen was an unconventional woman far ahead of her time, following her dream... The book she wrote "Out of Africa" makes me fall in love with Africa, its people, animals and nature. It takes you through the hills of Kenya, with the native Kikuyu, the Somali workers on the farm, the mysterious Maasai.
In this jewelry line I used the bold shapes one finds in African jewelry and fabrics, the dots which adorn the beautiful skin of Maasai warriors, the hammered textiles of rough stones found in the villages.
When the sun sets, there will be a golden glow on your 'Out of Africa' earrings and you will wish 'You had a farm in Africa'.
